It feels like I've been lost my whole life.
E l e v a r t e
[/size]Neutral Filly
A pelt of spun gold shimmered in the rays of light reaching down to the earth. The small, delicate head of a morgan filly was angled towards the sky as pistons white as snow stepped high in pride. From the distance it would look like a star was walking through the center section of the meadows, like this filly had not a fault., but distance is the most decieving of all.
Staring head on with the flicka, you'd see a scar above her left eye. It was not large and not all that noticably, but it was there, reminding Ella of the past she wanted so desperatly to forget. All she wanted was a new beginning; to start with a new life, no past, and only a bright future to be seen ahead. Yet, life was not so generous. Together, life and time tore you down until it felt as if you would fall over in the slightest breeze. Together, they destroyed all the dreams and hopes that had ever crossed your mind. Time was the real culprit; life was just along for the ride.
There was nothing that could destroy Ella's life anymore. She'd been doomed since before she'd even ever been released to the world. All the hate she'd felt as nothing more than a newborn still stuck to her mind. How could anyone be so cruel as to cast aside an innocent bella solely because she was forced into life? It was not Elevarte's fault. It was never the foal's fault, so why do they continue to blame an innocent? To get rid of their anger. That's why and forever it shall be so.
Forever. What did that really mean? No one lived for forever, so how could anyone say 'I'll love you forever?' Was forever the length of time between the start of your life and the end? Or was forever all the time that there was still a world where horses lived? Elevarte had not a clue about forever. Ever since the day that Ella had asked the question 'Mom, when will you come back for me?' and Fantasma had answered 'I will never come back. I will be gone forever.', Elevarte had wondered about how long forever truely was.
Spirited steps slowed gradually as Ella came close to an almost murky stream. She'd noticed that dead grass had taken over some of the wonderfully soft green grass that was, more or less, the only green grass she'd ever been able to eat. She'd always ahd to eat catci, those horrible plants that pricked you when they went down. Even aftre you broke of allthe spines, they still nit at your throat. " I'll never miss the desert. Ever! That place burnt my skin to a crisp!" Indeed, it was so. ALthough she'd been out of the desert for a week, the last sunburn, the oh so welcome going-away present of the sun, radiated heat from her cracked, dry skin.
Ella would give anything to roll in that tantilizing water, but it wasn't to be allowed. The rocks, pebbles, and sharp stones covering the bottom would've agonized her by scraping against her burn. She had enough sense to know when life would set taunting gifts right in front of her nose, that something was wrong with it. No one had taught her that. She'd had to learn it all by herself, and she'd learned it te hard way. Mirage's were not playing tag with her, chase, or hide-and-seek with her. The water they'd pictured was simply not there. It had been horrible. If Elevarte never again saw a mirage it would be too soon.
Standing there, peering out of the water was a confident young horse. Blue eyes stared at Ella with hidden wisdom. This was only the second time she'd seen a reflection, and it still amazed her. The image was amazing to her; she'd never known how much muscle she'd had until now, or how pretty she would look if she wasn't so sandy. Twitching her skin, golden grains cascaded off of her pelt, forming an open oval around her frame. A reflection was the only company she'd had for a month; Elevarte yearned for someone to talk to, to aid her along. The only thing she'd evre asked for was a family. Ella didn't matter how evil, how boring, or how nice that family or horse might be. She just wanted someone to love her, or at least take care of her. The shiest whinny that had ever escaped her was put forth into this new world of grass and water. It was luxury compared to where Ella had lived before, but she wanted a family to go along with it. Or at least someone who could teach her the ways of their alliance. She wasn't asking for much.
